For over 65 years, the Massachusetts Review has pushed back against voices telling us to sit down and shut up. After our 2025 NEA grant was rescinded, we were gratified and honored to see you, our supporters, step up and help us fill the gap.

The Massachusetts Review is more determined than ever to continue publishing voices that are under-recognized, underrepresented, and that offer our readers new ways of understanding the world. These days, that might be dismissed or disparaged as “DEI” or “woke”—but we’ve been doing it for more than six decades, and we’re not going to quit now.

This #GivingTuesday, we hope you will stand with us.

Publishing writing and art that challenges autocracy, questions the status quo, and most importantly, that imagines a new and better future, is what MR does best. We have no intention of stopping. Your support powers the projects of MR that go beyond the quarterly magazine, such as our online readings and events; our new Substack; and our ongoing efforts to bring you the best in new literature and art.
